On pg. 85 one of the components of a successful technology initiative was long-term funding. I did not see that anywhere on the checklist in Appendix A.

Where is Sunnyside as far as this is concerned? Do we already have or are we in the process of obtaining sustainable funds? Chapter 9 discussed 13 ways we would be able to save money. Are we counting on some of these savings to support the initiative?

Just wondering...

I was wondering a lot of the same questions. I think they have promised enough money for 3 years, but I am not sure if this includes upgrading the laptops in between that time or just leaving us with the same hardware and software. I would also like to know if we are going to be encourage to use the money saving ideas to keep supporting 1 on 1.

I know that at the present moment we have the needed funds to assist our project, however funds are always sketchy in Arizona when it comes to education and assistance.  The key is to get as many teachers, employees, parents and community members on board to voice our funding needs and continue to work with sponsors.  If you are successful in implementing technology and our students scores are improving our community will back us up.

I believe this is part of the bond that will be on the ballot in the next few years for our district. I think that the technology bond will replace the current bond with no rise in taxes to the residents. I agree that long term is the way we need to think otherwise it will be like many other programs that don't have the longevity to make an impact. However I do think that this program must be funded properly and hope the voters also see that.

This goes back to making sure all stakeholders are informed, not just of what the goals are and the benefits, but the roadmap of how we are going to get there.

It would be really sad if this initiative couldn't be sustained.  I feel that so much of what in the past had been assured that would last, has now fallen away.
