Our 5th grade team is enjoying the challenge of one-to-one computing. Our students are very motivated to learn new concepts and and technology skills.
Yes, this is also true for my classroom. We have a motivated teacher and students and hopefully we will be getting more direction on how to continue to differentiate instruction.
Our 5th grade team is doing a wonderful job so far. We really need email accounts for the students so they can do much more.
We're also doing well, especially for just getting started. Still having some access problems and lacking some direction on how, when and what to implement. Wish we had more time to collaborate with our team and with those who have been using the laptops for awhile.
We're working on student email Sandra. Are you volunteering for a pilot with your class maybe? Hopefully we'll have something going out for testing by mid April.
Bravo to all 5th grade teachers and students who have had to stretch with this 1to1 computing initiative. Change is hard; but, it can also be fun and exhilirating. Enjoy the ride. At the end of the day, you all will be our "champions!"
Amen Edna. Where would we be without those who have so graciously agreed to be the first!!
I have been so impressed with the fifth grade team at my school. They have embraced the 1:1 computing with an open mind and willingness. Our librarian has been fantastic with diving right in and getting the kids on the laptops the following school day after the kids received them.
As a 4th grade teacher looping up with my future 5th graders, I'm having mixed feelings about the tech implementation (and I volunteered!). Bear with me. I've developed a close rapport with these students, knowing them academically and personally, and it's exciting (I think) to be able jump into the laptop thing with them, BUT I'm questioning my technobilities, the "how-to's" and the "what's". After reading the report this goes double. I think I'll be one of those who "depends upon the kindness of others."
Our 5th grade team was very excited and ready to use the lap tops. We had and are still having some problems with connecting to the wifi and how to save, but the students are been ready to use them every day in every lesson, we just need more time to collaborate and more examples on how to fully integrate from first-order to second-order change with the laptops.
